Chinese Honey Chicken (Chinese Style Cooking Recipe)

Welcome to Xiao’s Kitchen. My name is Xiao Wei, ever since my Mother taught me how to cook at an early age, I have always had a strong passion for Cooking. My family still live in Inner Mongolia in the northern part of China, where I visit each year and pick-up new Asian/Chinese recipes.

Ingredients:
4 – 6 Chicken Drumsticks
20g Ginger
20g Light Soy Sauce
20g Dark Soy Sauce
20g Sugar
20g Honey
Salt to Taste

Method:
1. Slice ginger into thin threads
2. De-bone the chicken legs and place the meat into a bowl
3. Add ginger, soy sauce, sugar, honey and salt into the bowl, mix well and leave to marinate in fridge for 2 hours
4. Remove the meat from the bowl onto a dish, pick out the ginger and save the juice
5. Pat dry any excess juice off the meat
6. Heat the frying pan
7. Place 2 Tbsp oil in the pan and then add the chicken to the pan skin side down
8. Use low heat and slowly fry the chicken for 5 to 8 minutes and then turn the skin side up, continue to fry for 5 to 8 minutes till meat is cooked
9. Remove meat onto a dish
10. Turn heat to high & add the marinating juice saved earlier and bring to the boil
11. Drizzle the sauce onto chicken, garnish and serve
